In fact, you will find their inspection--often surreptitious--and the
pleasure of serving the fruits of your labor comparable only to a
clear conscience or a very becoming hat." ~Joy of Cooking 1931
I have always loved this passage from my favorite cookbook. I thought of it immediately, but had a hard time finding a reference for the hat. This is just the glorified sketch from my sketchbook, but I hope to do something with it---maybe watercolor.

Well that's a wonderful quote all right. I'm a hat nut so I hope you work this into a painting!
Is this your very first post? Welcome to IF!
I love the colour and concept of canned and your thoughts of creativity. look forward to viewing some more of your work
Great sketch, like the profile of your iconic lady :)
Wow, what a nice quote! A lovely sensitive illo. Can't wait to see the color version!
Great sketch, I'm sure whatever else you do with it will be great too. Btw, you're a former neighbor, I'm originally from Arkansas, now muddling along with the French this side of the pond for the last 8 years.
I don't know how I missed this "canned"! - my post was jarred canning as well :). This is really beautiful. It reminds me at bit of Carl Larsson's work - the lovely lines and domestic theme. Very beautiful.
