Illustration Friday: "Detach"

Is there any creature that appears to be more detached from the world around him than a sleeping cat?  This particular kitty is our Elmer.  I thought he was a "tuxedo" cat, but just recently found out that he is a "cow" or "moo" kitty. It seems he could only be called by the more elegant name if he had a completely black "overcoat."  Speaking of detached, Elmer detached himself from our home two years ago when our cocker spaniel, Opal, came to live with us---we see him occasionally around the neighborhood---guess he's living off the land.

Illustration Friday: "Sail"

This sweet little robin is sailing along through the rain puddles letting everyone know that spring is on the way! You can just see the watery sun peeking through.

I have been trying to learn watercolor on my own for some time and I've really struggled with it. I'm pretty determined to learn, so ANY help you can give me I would appreciate. I am loving IF and all the inspiration from y'all!

Illustration Friday-Poof

This is real life, y'all! I just recently saw one of these guys
being walked on the Champs Elysee in Paris by a very sophisticated
Japanese lady. The dog was almost as big as his mistress!

Illustration Friday--"Canned"

"It is a thrill to possess shelves well stocked with home-canned food.
In fact, you will find their inspection--often surreptitious--and the
pleasure of serving the fruits of your labor comparable only to a
clear conscience or a very becoming hat." ~Joy of Cooking 1931

I have always loved this passage from my favorite cookbook. I thought of it immediately, but had a hard time finding a reference for the hat. This is just the glorified sketch from my sketchbook, but I hope to do something with it---maybe watercolor.
